Dr. Eldon Hastings
Founder/Director/Instructor

Dr. Eldon Hastings received his Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) from Brigham Young University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1969.

He graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Special Agent Training Academy and was employed by the FBI as a special agent in Texas, Washington, D.C. and New York City.

He served as a councilman on the Gilbert Town Council from 1985-1987 and as vice mayor of Gilbert from 1987-1989.

Dr. Hastings has been involved in the community as a member of East Valley Mental Health Association, Desert Samaritan Hospital Advisory Board, American Academy of preventive Dentistry and the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a retired member in good standing of the American Dental Association and the Arizona Dental Society.

Dr. Hastings was appointed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and served as a commissioner on the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education.

Dr. Hastings practiced dentistry for 40 years in Arizona and retired in 2009. He now devotes his full time to the American Institute of Dental Assisting, Mesa, Arizona.

Laura Thompson, D.A.
Finance Director

Laura Thompson, the dedicated Finance Director of the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA), is a testament to the power of hands-on experience and commitment. Starting her journey with AIDA as an Administrative Assistant in 2006, Laura's innate curiosity and aspiration to deeply understand the student perspective led her to enroll in the dental assisting course. By 2007, she had earned her dental assisting certificate and x-ray certification, equipping her with firsthand knowledge and invaluable insights that would later shape her approach as the Student Services Director.

In 2013, Laura took on the mantle of Finance Director. Rooted in her passion for helping others, she cherishes her role in an institution that consistently transforms lives. Every decision Laura makes is influenced by her unique journey within AIDA, making her a true advocate for both the institute and its students.

Holley N. Schneider, D.A.
Admissions Director

Holley N. Schneider, D.A., the committed Admissions Director at the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA). Holley's journey in the realm of dentistry began in 1998 when she graduated with distinction from the dental assisting program at Pima Medical Institute. Since then, she has furthered her proficiency, securing certifications in x-ray and coronal polishing.

Throughout her illustrious career, Holley has garnered extensive experience spanning multiple facets of dentistry. From managing both front and back office tasks to mastering patient relations, her versatility and commitment have always stood out. At AIDA, Holley is an integral part of the students' experience. The interactions and bonds she forms with the students are what she cherishes most. As they navigate the intricate paths of dentistry, Holley is there every step of the way, ensuring they have the guidance they need.

Now spearheading the admissions process as the Director, Holley's positivity and genuine enthusiasm shine through in every endeavor. She takes immense pride in her role, driven by a passion for helping others unlock their potential and realize their aspirations in the dental field.

Brenda Castanon D.A.
Senior Admissions Specialist

Meet Brenda Castanon, D.A., our esteemed Senior Admissions Specialist at the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA). Brenda's commitment to the dental field began in 1998, following her graduation from Dental Careers Plus in El Paso, TX. Her zeal for dentistry is evident in her continual pursuit of further knowledge, attending classes that bolster her expertise and propel her to excel in her profession.

Brenda's passion doesn't just lie in her own professional development but extends to nurturing the growth of others. Previously serving as the Student Services Administrator, Brenda was the touchstone for student assistance and guidance. Today, in her admissions role, she finds immense joy in introducing aspiring dental professionals to their passion, guiding them toward a bright future in dentistry.
With her combined experience and heartfelt dedication, Brenda not only assists but truly inspires every AIDA student she encounters, making her an invaluable part of our community.

Tammy Bos, the dedicated Director of Instructors at the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA), has left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. Graduating from a local dental assisting school, Tammy achieved her X-ray certification in 1988, embarking on a journey not just of professional growth but of profound mentorship.

Over the decades, she's cultivated a rich reservoir of knowledge, continually refreshing her expertise through continuing education. However, it's her deep-seated passion for mentoring that truly stands out. Many students, past and present, can attest to the life-changing guidance Tammy offers. Her unwavering belief in their potential, coupled with her vast experience, provides them with an unparalleled foundation for success in dentistry.

Tammy doesn't just shape careers; she touches hearts. The bonds she's formed with her students often evolve into lifelong friendships, a testament to her genuine care and commitment. With an impressive 13 years at AIDA, Tammy seamlessly blends her roles as a mentor and the Director of Instructors. She leads an expansive team of educators, ensuring that every lesson is infused with passion, expertise, and a sense of camaraderie.

Meet Crystal, an alumna of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2010. Her academic pursuits were centered around psychology, family social science, and public health. Post-graduation, Crystal's career has spanned various sectors including non-profit organizations, the health & fitness industry, and higher education. Regardless of the field, her roles have consistently aligned with her intrinsic desire to foster positive change in individuals and their communities.

A steadfast advocate for personal growth and well-being, helping others isn't just a job for Crystal — it's a profound passion. Every day, she channels this passion into her work with students at the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA), where she not only offers her guidance and support but also stands as a testament to the program's efficacy, being a proud graduate of AIDA's Dental Assistant program herself.

Monique Evans D.A.
Student Services

Monique, a seasoned professional with 23 enriching years in the dental arena. Her journey commenced as a Hygiene Assistant during her college years, where she was initially set on an elementary teaching path. However, a fortuitous experience with her first DDS ignited her passion for dentistry, prompting a pivot in her career direction. Gratefully, she undertook further education, sponsored by this supportive mentor.

Throughout her illustrious career, Monique worked closely with two distinguished doctors, both of whom imparted invaluable wisdom and were remarkable educators in their own right. For Monique, the zenith of her practice has always been witnessing the transformative power of dentistry — the sheer joy of patients reclaiming their smiles and confidence.

As time evolved, so did her aspirations. Drawn back to her teaching roots, Monique transitioned to the academic side of dentistry. Although she fondly reminisces about her patient interactions, she's embraced her role at the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA) with zest. In her nearly two-year tenure at AIDA, she has progressed from a clinical instructor to a co-instructor. Life has come full circle for Monique, combining her love for education and dentistry in the most fulfilling way.

Jocelyn Rubio D.A.

Meet Jocelyn Rubio, a distinguished graduate of the American Institute of Dental Assisting (AIDA) class of 2012. Immediately following her internship, Jocelyn's skills and passion were recognized by a Prosthodontist office, where she was promptly hired as a dental assistant. Her dedication and adeptness quickly elevated her to the role of lead assistant, further showcasing her versatility as she was cross-trained to excel in both front and back office tasks.

Jocelyn's interest in the dental field was sparked during her personal journey with orthodontic treatments, having undergone them twice — once as an adolescent and later as an adult. Her experience at the Prosthodontist office solidified her love for the profession, as she witnessed the transformative power of a smile. For Jocelyn, the profound impact of restoring someone's confidence by rejuvenating their smile is unparalleled. She believes that being able to rekindle hope and happiness in individuals who thought they'd never smile confidently again is a priceless reward.

Today, Jocelyn continues to impart her knowledge and expertise at AIDA, wearing dual hats as an instructor and a member of the student services team. Her journey is a testament to her commitment to the world of dentistry and her desire to make a difference.
